Why I Chose Acceleration

Why I Chose Acceleration

The reason why I chose acceleration is because acceleration is measuring an athlete from whatever velocity they're starting at --

It's their change in velocity

For team sports, athletes have very few opportunities to reach very, very high velocity within a game -- but there are multiple times where they have high acceleration rates or high changes in speed.

In some cases, athletes are maximum accelerating or high accelerating 30 times in a game, whereas they're only hitting top speed or within 90% of their peak speed, maybe three or four times.

So, we wanted to quantify what athletes are doing from an acceleration standpoint, and then figure out how to target that and create individual programs, helping athletes actually get better at that acceleration.
